|||Fort Henry|||

Last Weekend i went to fort Henry, Kingston for Halloween.( Fort fright! ) I thought i should show you some picture of this nice place. It was originaly built during the War of 1812 on Point Henry, beside Lake Ontario, to guard the outlet to the St Lawrence River and the Kingston Navy Yards. Now, they say that the fort is hunted and you can go for a ghost hunt. :)

===November 11th===

///Remembrance Day\\\

Also known as Poppy Day, Armistice day (the event it commemorates) or Veterans day – is a day to commemorate the sacrifices of members of the military and of civilians in times of war, specifically since the First World War.

The Canadian, the British And south African have the tradition to take 2 minutes of silence the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh Month. So The November 11th At 11h00. during This time you can do a prayer for the dead soldier of the world war 1 !

The Poppy

The poppy's significance to Remembrance Day is a result of Canadian military physician John McCrae's poem In Flanders Fields. The poppy emblem was chosen because of the poppies that bloomed across some of the worst battlefields of Flanders in World War I, their red colour an appropriate symbol for the bloodshed of trench warfare.

In Canada we are wearing the Poppy two weeks before november 11th. Until 1996, the Poppy's was made by disabled veterans, but now they are made by a private contrator.

My Fake Newspaper Article!

Toronto, Ont― ' As will traditions, to support our troops and their families, it will be well from wearing red every Friday. This is a very kind attention to our soldiers who are in Afghanistan. You can also send money donation to the support our troops association. There is merchandise to sell in every army Canex in the country, just like the saleswomen I met, miss. Roxanne Miron; “we are now selling at least 600$ of merchandise support our troops by week. It is an unbelievable number to compared to the passed years; our sales have climbed up by 150%!”

You can become an employee of the support our troop association. You have the choice of what city you are going, the place you feel the better to support soldiers. Some employees can even leave to go see soldiers far, far away. You are helping them with there food, training…

You could also go to the web site to write an encouragement message to the soldiers.( http://www.forces.gc.ca/site/Community/Messageboard/index_e.asp ) Because they are very far from their families, they need support from everybody as much as they can. This will help them to stay mentally strong through bad times. This war is also very difficult for their family, so you can also write messages to encourage them.
